Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with powdered gold. The broken vase is delicately restored, regaining a different, unified shine, but most importantly, its functionality! Our civilization, driven by relentless consumption, has little regard for broken things… We get rid of them… as quickly as possible! This behavior applies not only to things but also to people, especially in our companies… often making us forget our role as leaders. Like an army that eliminates its wounded soldiers, we don’t have time to repair broken vases or develop a team member… all in the name of performance and immediate results.
My point here is clear. I’m not talking about indulgence in the face of incompetence, nor excessive sentimentality, but about development, support, and emotional intelligence… the qualities of leadership focused on developing people and teams, to "unleash" their potential…
What if we thought about it? 😊
