Leadership

I really like this Ivorian proverb: "God doesn't like fast-cooked alloco."
Alloco: An Ivorian dish made of fried plantains.

In its final form, the caterpillar transforms, shedding its skin during its "pupa stage" to become the transitional form of the butterfly: the chrysalis. After going through its "imaginal molt" to become a butterfly, it faces one final, crucial challenge: breaking free from its cocoon and facing the world.
The transformation into a chrysalis, then into a butterfly, step by step, is as important as breaking free from the silk cocoon.
In fact, it’s through this ultimate challenge and the effort it requires that the butterfly develops enough strength to fly. Any external attempt, human or not, to help the butterfly out is undoubtedly a death sentence… its "immaturity" to face the new world.
Such misguided help can be harmful, even fatal; the butterfly may not have the strength to take flight and is likely to die… and that’s almost certain.
To all my young brothers, in the sea of excellence and accelerated professional progress… if it’s desired in these times, Training, Maturation, and Experience are crucial for... success, climbing the ladders of life in general and in business in particular.
"You can’t make a butterfly by gluing wings onto a caterpillar! You can’t give someone what can only be the result of an inner, personal transformation." – Olivier Clerc in The Frog Who Didn't Know It Was Being Cooked –
Fast-cooked alloco only has the nicely browned, crispy exterior, but the inside remains raw and unfit to eat.
Knowledge, which God calls "Wisdom," is gained through training and experience, and it allows, at every stage, to take on the responsibilities of the stage passed and those yet to come... It is the mark of a Leader, who has taken the time to be trained, to train themselves, in order to face the burn of the sun; for the sun, which may seem so close... is burning, and on the mountain... one is often so alone.
History is filled with great leaders with inspiring journeys: Moses, Joshua, Jesus, Mandela, and others.
Moses, a prince and "son" of Pharaoh, one of the greatest kings of his time, a sovereign/god on earth, spent 40 years in the desert tending sheep before being "deemed worthy" to lead the chosen people to their divine destiny... he who could have, with a snap of his fingers or a glance, had anything he desired: wealth, women, human lives, without any censure, no requirement to justify himself before any "international criminal court," no "UN" to answer to.
Let’s read their stories… let’s "listen" to their lives… they waited to be a caterpillar, then a chrysalis… ready to make the ultimate effort before "exposing" themselves… before "governing."
